Security Deposit Information

To ensure a comfortable and well-maintained stay for all guests, we require a security deposit for certain types of bookings. The way this deposit is handled depends on how your reservation is made.

Bookings via Airbnb

When you book through Airbnb, no security deposit is required. Airbnb provides hosts with AirCover, which offers protection for up to £10,000 in damages. This means guests are not asked to pay a separate deposit when booking through the Airbnb platform.

Bookings via Booking.com

Booking.com does not offer a built-in security deposit facility. For this reason, we manage deposits directly.

  • For standard Booking.com reservations, a £500 security deposit is required.

Direct Bookings

For guests who book directly with us, we’re often able to get to know you a little better before your stay. As a result, we usually request a reduced security deposit of £300.

  • For shorter stays, such as one-night bookings, this lower amount is typically applied with the owners’ approval.

Our Approach to Deposits

We pride ourselves on being fair, approachable, and reasonable hosts. Security deposits are not something we expect or want to keep. The owners have invested significantly in renovating Regency Cottage to create a beautiful, comfortable space, and the deposit simply acts as a safety net in the rare event of damage or serious rule breaches.

We’re happy to reassure guests that we have not needed to retain a security deposit at all throughout 2025. Provided the property is left in good condition and house rules are respected, your deposit will be returned promptly after your stay.
We always aim to return this deposit once we have had the go ahead from our cleaners, this can be between 48-72hrs after departure. Deposit's can only be returned via bank transfer so after your stay we will need to gain these details from you.
